Featuring major global brands, including Yammer, Tesco, Samsung, Google and Microsoft, as well as home-grown London tech companies such as Makers Academy and Intent HQ, the week will showcase London's role as the digital capital of Europe. Events taking place throughout the week range from meet-ups for 20 people and invite only showcases, to large scale events attracting upwards of 10,000 attendees in venues spread across the capital - from Croydon to Shoreditch, and the Docklands to Westminster.
Gordon Innes, Chief Executive of London & Partners, said: "London is once again leading the way in tech. Reaching the 100 event mark is a fantastic milestone for London Technology Week and demonstrates how vibrant and extensive the London tech sector is right now. This is the first time that a major global capital has held a large scale tech event that spans an entire city. Having so many companies and individuals coming together for the event further underlines London's role as the major tech hub for Europe."
Adrian Newton, Group Director for Transport & Technology at UBM Live, said "We have been delighted to see such enthusiasm for London Technology Week. The range and breadth of events planned will present a unique opportunity for the tech community to network, learn and engage on a face-to-face level. They will discover new technologies, skills and business opportunities, make new connections, and hopefully, finish the week exhausted but invigorated and inspired - a feeling that only live events can achieve."
London Technology Week will feature keynote speakers from the UK and the wider global tech industry, who will be sharing their insights and experiences on this rapidly moving sector. This will include Julia and Kevin Hartz, the founders of Eventbrite at Internet World; Benjamin Southworth, founder of The Ada Lovelace Academy, at RE.Work The Future of Education; tech entrepreneur and finalist of The Apprentice, Nick Holzherr, at How to Fund Your Digital Startup; and Andy Hobsbawm, founder of EVRYTHNG, who will be speaking at Tech Transformation Forum. A series of London based start-ups including Technology Will Save Us, MakieLab and Snap Fashion are also taking part in the week.
The range of venues hosting events during London Technology Week is wide-ranging. Large scale conference venues such as ExCeL London and The O2, popular tech hot spots like Rainmaking Loft and Google Campus in Old Street, as well as iconic visitor attractions, including Somerset House, the West End's Haymarket Theatre and The Science Museum are all holding events. Even London's sewer system will serve as an event venue, showcasing the fibre optic technology running under the city's streets.
