A Premiere in Transport Industry: Hansa Funktaxi Integrates Yapital
LUXEMBOURG, May 19, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --
Hamburg company takes on pioneer role: 800 Hamburg taxis will be equipped with first European cross-channel payment solution by late summer
Not enough cash for a taxi with you after a visit to Hamburg's famed nightlife? This will no longer be the question in the future, because Hansa Funktaxi eG is presenting the transport business with a pioneering premiere: From late summer, customers in the company's approximately 800 taxis will be able to pay with Yapital - in an easy, fast and secure way. All that passengers need, is the Yapital app on their smartphone to use it for scanning a QR-Code on the taxi's customer terminal and confirm the payment - it's as simple as that. Sharing of taxi costs is also remarkably easy with Yapital. Passengers can send their share directly from the Yapital app.
This cooperation marks the conquest of another industry for the first European cross-channel payment system. Customers can already pay for products and services in different categories, such as fashion, sporting goods, food and hotel stays by scanning a QR code with their smartphone - now they can also get from A to B with Yapital and a major as well as notably innovative taxi company. With 426 associated taxi companies and a fleet of 800 vehicles, Hansa Funktaxi has been transporting passengers in the Hamburg region since thirty years - and once was one of the first taxi enterprises in Germany to introduce credit card payment.
"A taxi trip should be fast and comfortable, just like the method of payment," says Nils Winkler, Chairman of the Board of Yapital. "Whether they are out for the night or on their way to a business appointment, taxi guests have their smartphone at hand anyway. To pay for your trip with it brings much more fun than looking for cash or a credit card. Thus, the payment becomes part of the trip experience with Hansa Funktaxi."
Dirk Schütte, Chairman of the Board of Hansa Funktaxi eG, adds: "Hansa Funktaxi took on a pioneer role in the industry when it came to introduce the comprehensive possibility of credit card payments. Paying by smartphone is the next step - and we are excited to be at the forefront in this area too with Yapital as our partner."
