Simon Gosling of EnergyNet commented, "The theme of this year's Africa Energy Forum is 'Mergers & Acquisitions' - it's therefore exciting that six of the biggest M&A and bilateral deals ever seen on the continent will be announced this year. The scale of these impending announcements and the players involved are so important they will change how investors approach Africa and how governments seek investment going forward. The conference will close on Friday with two of the most significant deals announced at the end. After 18 years in the running, we' re thrilled the Forum is now a platform for such groundbreaking industry announcements."
The Forum will welcome back EnergyNet's Student Engagement Programme (ESEI), an initiative developed to promote human capital development and job creation across Africa's power and energy infrastructure sectors. ESEI 2016 will sponsor 10 African students to fly to the conference, learn about the industry first hand and network with potential employers.
2016 also sees the launch of the Off the Grid Club, a new membership programme developed to bring together credible off grid technology providers, financiers and regional leaders to invest in and develop reliable and scalable power solutions for Africa. The Club's launch will be celebrated with a gig featuring African artists to raise awareness of the importance of energy access in emerging markets.
A major pull is the networking opportunities available at the Forum for investors, which have contributed to the conference's high value position in the energy calendar.
