During the drinks reception at Maison Assouline, guests were greeted by French waiters in tuxedos who served Messika-themed cocktails and canapés, such as 'The Move' - champagne mixed with crushed strawberry, Moroccan rose, lychee and lemon. Jewellery from the House's most iconic collections, including Move and Amazone, was on display in glass vitrines around the Assouline boutique, while guests such as Lady Mary Charteris and Cora Corré arrived wearing their own favourite Messika pieces.
Sai Bennett and Sophie Kennedy Clark could be seen clearly admiring the diamonds on display, while guests lined up to have their copy of Messika signed by Vivienne Becker and Valérie Messika, who held court in the middle of the party at a large table surrounded by pink roses and stacks of the memoir-sized book.
Founded in Paris in 2005, Messika was devised and orchestrated by Valerie Messika, daughter of the famous diamond dealer André Messika. Her jewellery is new and unexpected; the contemporary style and forms reinterpret the traditions of fine jewellery whilst revealing their creator's profound passion for diamonds. In ten years, Valérie Messika has not only established a modern jewellery House and built an international brand, but she has also shifted the mind-set of the diamond world, inventing an original language for diamonds and introducing her contemporary style to a new generation in search of modernity.
Messika is available for purchase from end of February 2016 at Assouline points of sale worldwide and Assouline.com, and can also be pre-ordered online. Retail price is £16 / $25 /€22, and the book is available in both English and French.
