Amcor and Bosch partnership develops the optimal material for Bosch's new Doy Zip bag vertical machine
ZURICH, Switzerland, Sept. 25, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Bosch Packaging Technology and Amcor, global leaders in packaging material and packaging machinery, will demonstrate how brands can use Doy Zip bags to speed up their production and boost the appeal of their products to consumers at FachPack in Germany (29 September – 1 October). The two companies have partnered to develop ZipSpeed, a material designed specifically to run on Bosch's new SVE 2520DZ vertical Doy Zip bag machine. Both the material and the machine will be demonstrated at FachPack in the Bosch stand (Hall 3A/3A-337).

The new SVE 2520DZ machine is the fastest Doy Zip vertical bagger on the market. In order to provide its customers the full speed potential of the machine, Bosch chose to partner with Amcor to develop the optimal material to match the machine's performance. Amcor's R&D team worked with Bosch to understand the machine and develop ZipSpeed, a PET/PE laminate that is easy to run, offers excellent seal strength and a smoother appearance when applying reclosable zippers.
"To maximise performance on the machine, we developed a clever sealing application that eliminates the need to punch holes in order to form and seal the bags. This creates simplified and faster processing," said Joachim Pietzsch, R&D Director, Amcor Flexibles. In trials, the ZipSpeed material ran at full machine speed of 100 packs per minute. Also contributing to speed and performance is the ZipSpeed laminate's wider sealing temperature range than standard materials. "The ZipSpeed seal temperature range is from 100 – 180°C, which allows customers to use lower seal temperatures. At the same time, the material has high heat resistance for the application of recloseable zippers," said Mr. Pietzsch.
"To develop the best in class vertical Doy Zip bagger, premium bag appearance, high speed and ease of use were key. To enable this we worked closely together with Amcor in the development of ZipSpeed, a perfect film for high quality Doy Zip bags, with good runability on Bosch SVE 2520DZ'' said Mr. Lagarde, Manager Engineering & Design at Bosch.
Visitors to FachPack can see both the Bosch SVE 2520 DZ machine and the Amcor ZipSpeed material in action.
