Another Innovation on its way at the StartUp Open Israel

- The competition for start-ups is underway and companies are narrowing down
StartUp Open is underway! The Global competition was originally launched as part of the Kauffman Foundation in 2010 and is part of Global Entrepreneurship Network. Since its commencement, StartUp Open has been a leader in the promotion and nourishment of aspiring entrepreneurs and is one of the world's largest competitions for startup companies, Boosting participation from over 60 countries.
The idea behind the competition is to provide start-ups, in their early stages, a chance to develop their ideas and present them to entrepreneurs and judges, who have extensive experience in relevant fields.
This year big number of start-up companies throughout Israel have registered and presented their ideas to a renowned panel of judges, including Managing Partner from Barnea & Co, Michael Barnea, Chairperson of Global Entrepreneurship Week of Israel, Ayla Matalon, Manager of the Hi-Tech Entrepreneurship project at the Jerusalem Development Authority, Stav Erez, Head of the Asper Centre for Entrepreneurship, Professor Niron Hashai and CEO of Algomizer Ltd, Noam Band, among others.
From nearly hundred companies that participated in the competition, the judges have selected Six finalists to move forward and partake in the final event of the national competition that will be held on September 7, 2015 in Jerusalem. The list of finalists includes:
Frank Mobile App - Allow users to give and get back constructive, anonymous feedback from friends.
Guide In Medical - New Intubation device identifies & navigates into the trachea in difficult situations.
InnerEye - A visual target detection capabilities by combining the human brain and computer vision.
Lishtot - A water quality testing technology and device for answering the question "to drink or not to drink?" in real time.
PlayClay - A platform, which enables the creation of various games and applications for direct and intuitive 3-D modeling of soft materials.
SmartLogic - Maximizes industrial machine up-time by "listening" to machines and predicting future failures.
The Road Ahead
The selected six startups will attend the final in Jerusalem on September 7. At the event, the winning company will be selected by the judges in front of an audience of entrepreneurs, researchers, investors, managers and government representatives. The winner will go on to the list of the World's Top 50 Most Promising Startups, also known as the GEW50, and as such, will gain vast and meaningful exposure. Then they will compete at Startup Open Global competition during Global Entrepreneurship Week in November. The Israeli winner will also receive a number of prizes worth thousands of shekels and get the opportunity to present their product to the international community.
