Ashes Ticket Demand Soars to New Heights Following Lions' Rugby Triumph
LONDON, July 11, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --
Searches for tickets soar by 157% following British and Irish Lions' weekend victory according to data revealed by StubHub.co.uk
Following the British & Irish Lions' historic win against Australia over the weekend, ticket demand for the Ashes is soaring as sports fans clamour to witness the latest stage of a big summer of sport against our friends Down Under.
Following the Lions' 41-16 victory in Sydney on Saturday (6th July), StubHub.co.uk recorded a 157% increase in searches for tickets to the Ashes compared to the time of the first Lions test on 22nd June. Meanwhile, a 78% increase in searches for the cricket series was also recorded over the course of two weeks.
Speaking about the soaring demand for tickets to the Ashes - which kicked off at Trent Bridge earlier this week (10th July) - StubHub General Manager, International, Brigitte Ricou-Bellan remarked: "Even before the rugby started, the Ashes had been one of our most popular events this year. But it seems that the historic success of the Lions in such an exciting test series has only enthused sporting fans more. Fans just can't get enough of the great sporting rivalry we have with the Aussies."
Following the conclusion of the first test at Trent Bridge, England are due to take on their Aussie rivals at Old Trafford, Riverside Ground, Lords and The Oval before the series concludes in August. Tickets for all the test matches are still available at http://www.StubHub.co.uk/the-ashes-tickets/
