The two premiere events were the most eagerly awaited exhibitions in the region and key players from the global agribusiness community were on hand to inspect the latest trends in the Asian livestock and feed industries. Delegates and visitors also attended informative discussions held through a series of plenary sessions featuring renowned industry experts.
LIVESTOCK PHILIPPINES 2013 was the second staging of the show following its debut in 2011. The event drew more than 200 exhibitors from 20 countries and was officially opened by no less than Philippine President Benigno S. Aquino III. Foreign participation was evidenced by international pavilions from mainland China, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan and the UK.
The presence of dignitaries from local and international organisations, as well as a unique series of discussions and seminars on livestock and feed, generated a 25% increase in the number of visitors over the 2011 event. The major upgrade was greatly appreciated by exhibitors many of whom have already booked participation in the third edition of LIVESTOCK PHILIPPINES which will take place in June 2015.
2013 SHOW HAD RECORD NUMBER OF EXHIBITORS
LIVESTOCK ASIA counted over 300 exhibitors from 30 countries, making the event the hub of all livestock shows in Asia. Local and international representatives from the global feed and livestock industry witnessed a showcase of the latest innovations that included a programme of informative seminars providing invaluable information covering the latest developments in the industry.
One of the show's highlights was a panel discussion on the challenges of feeding the world's nine billion people by 2020. The discussion was spearheaded by Y.Bhg Dato' Dr. Abd. Aziz Jamaluddin, Director General of the Department of Veterinary Services from the Malaysian Ministry of Agriculture and Agro Based Industry, Y.Bhg. Tan Sri Dato Dr. Ahmad Mustaffa Babjee, Chairman of UBM ASEAN, and the honorary president of the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE). Presenters included Y.Bhg Tan Sri Francis Lau of the Leong Hup Group of Companies; Dr. Arayan Trangarn, Senior Vice President of Betagro Thailand and Mr. Moshiur Rahman, President of World Poultry Science Association from Bangladesh.
Because of the success of both livestock events, UBM Asia is preparing to bring the exhibition to Vietnam and Myanmar next year. LIVESTOCK MYANMAR is slated for 25-23 January, 2014 at the Tatmadaw Exhibition Hall in Yangon and VIETSTOCK 2014 Expo and Forum will be held on 15-17 October, 2014 at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Centre, Ho Chi Minh City.
NEW OPPORTUNITIES IN MYANMAR
The newly restructured government in Myanmar means the country is an emerging market where foreign investors can establish a position in what is deemed to be the next important economy in Southeast Asia. As the country's local meat sector continues towards efficient production, investors will find many outstanding market opportunities. Unlike other ASEAN nations, Myanmar has no religious restrictions, making it even more attractive to meat producers.
Meanwhile, from the ashes of war, Vietnam's resurgence as an economic power in Southeast Asia has become a major attraction for the international business community. VIETSTOCK, which was launched in 2004, has become the country's showcase for attracting investments in feed and livestock. Now in its 10th year, VIETSTOCK continues to get bigger and better with more comprehensive seminars and a wider showcase featuring the modernisation of livestock rearing and feed manufacturing which will greatly benefit both local and international firms.
