ASIAWATER 2012 Takes Off, Setting New Records
KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia, April 10, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --
ASIAWATER 2012 was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia last month. There were a total of 11,927 visitors to this biennial event, which was 15% more than in 2010 and exhibitor numbers were up by 30% with a total of 682 companies. The exhibition turned out to be the best yet and real business, providing much needed help in this critically important area.

COSMOPOLITAN CHARACTER
Compared to previous events ASIAWATER 2012 increased its international appeal considerably. The show featured large national pavilions representing Singapore, Austria, Denmark, mainland China, Taiwan, Japan, the USA, Australia, Poland and the European Union. In addition the show hosted major delegations from the Philippines, Indonesia and Vietnam with a total of 47 countries attending.
"It was a good outing. We met some of our target audience and look forward to a better event in next edition in 2014," said Jaime Yong, Commercial Advisor, Royal Danish Embassy Kuala Lumpur.

FUNCTIONS ADDED TO APPEAL
During the three busy days of the show, numerous special seminars, conferences and presentations were held. They included prestigious events such as the Austrian Round Table which was led by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Energy, Green Technology and Water, Malaysia, YB Datuk Loo Took Gee.
A Japanese Business Matchmaking Program conducted by the Japanese External Trade Organisation (JETRO) was also held along with the 7th ASIA WATER Conference organised by the Malaysian Water Association under the theme of "Sustainability & Efficiency." The Conference attracted over 250 delegates.
The 2nd AWARE 2012 Conference with the theme of "Trans-boundary Water Related Disasters: Lessons To Be Learned" featured distinguished international and local speakers and was also very popular.
The ASIAWATER series of exhibitions has now expanded to include Thailand, (ThaiWater 2012, Bangkok) Vietnam (VietWater 2012, Hanoi) and the Philippines (Water Philippines 2013, Manila)
ASIAWATER, Malaysia will take place again in March 2014 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.
