Autonomy Powers Intelligent Document Management and Process Automation at IKEA Italy
CAMBRIDGE, England and SAN FRANCISCO, March 22, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --
Global Furniture Retailer Selects Autonomy WorkSite and TeleForm
Autonomy, an HP Company, today announced that IKEA Italy, part of the leading global furniture retailer, is using Autonomy's technology to power its document and business process management systems.
Founded in Sweden in 1943, IKEA has grown to become the largest furniture retailer in the world, with over 330 stores globally. IKEA is widely known for producing affordable, high-quality self-assembly furniture and home products.
IKEA Italy needed a single, centralized repository where employees could quickly and efficiently access relevant business documents and improve the automation of its internal and customer-facing business processes. Furthermore, it needed to improve collaboration between different departments.
IKEA Italy selected Autonomy WorkSite and TeleForm to fulfill these requirements. Autonomy's solutions, built on the Intelligent Data Operating Layer (IDOL), provide IKEA Italy with a single platform for document management and business process automation across the company's multiple repositories.
IKEA chose Autonomy's platform to power this exciting initiative as Autonomy's was the only technology offering robust document management capabilities with the necessary level of scalability. In addition, Autonomy's multi-lingual search capability proved crucial for the global company, whose internal communications and documents are in several languages.
"At IKEA, we place a heavy emphasis on operational efficiency, and this extends to our IT systems too," said Stefano Bazzoli, IT Manager at IKEA Italy. "Inefficiencies in document and process management are classic places where time is lost, so being able to optimize these, and introduce automation where possible, is of huge value to the business. Autonomy has given us the tools we need to make this possible by helping us significantly reduce the time staff spend searching for documents and enabling them to share information and collaborate more freely. As a result, we are seeing increases in internal productivity."
"Furthermore - from a compliance standpoint - Autonomy's comprehensive solution has enabled us to put in place a fully defensible, auditable process for internal document management," elaborated Bazzoli.
"Today, organizations are faced with an ever-growing volume of business-critical information generated both internally and externally," said Nigel Hutchinson, VP Autonomy Power Solutions, EMEA. "The systems put in place to handle this information are generally pieced together over time, which leads to information being fragmented between different business areas or geographic locations. Autonomy offers a unique single-platform solution which allows users to harness the whole corpus of company data, increasing levels of business process automation to drive efficiency."
As a future extension to this initiative, IKEA Italy plans to expand the use of Autonomy technology and launch a Knowledge Management system based on Autonomy Universal Search.
