Autonomy Unveils New Release of WorkSite
CAMBRIDGE, England, and SAN FRANCISCO, September 29, 2011 /PRNewswire/ --
- WorkSite 9.0 Delivers Next-Generation Private Cloud Computing Platform and New Capabilities in Mobile Support and Security
Autonomy Corporation plc (LSE: AU. or AU.L), a global leader in infrastructure software for the enterprise, today announced a new release of its flagship document management solution, WorkSite version 9.0. This release delivers next-generation private cloud computing platform and new capabilities in mobile support and security, to empower users with on-demand secured access to matter content from anywhere at any time on any mobile devices.
Built on Autonomy's unique Meaning Based Computing technology, WorkSite provides a shared environment for storing business content and a system for tracking updates, milestones, and communications. Documents -- both paper and electronic -- records, e-mail messages, and other media are consolidated in a central library, making them easier to find, share, and reuse. Version control, automated notifications, and advanced search options streamline execution and simplify the handoff of work among users. Business users and professionals manage access and security to workspaces, reducing the demands on the IT organization.
New capabilities in WorkSite 9.0 include:
WorkSite Mobility
Organizations are looking for technologies that enable their workforce to be productive, while they are on the move. WorkSite 9 allows users to access the same content inside or outside the office through a platform and device of their choice, whether they are disconnected on a flight; telecommuting with a broadband connection or even if they are limited to access via a mobile device. Through an innovative user interface, mobile professionals can now interact with files, find and view documents and attach files to emails to collaborate with colleagues and clients wherever they are.
Security Without Third-Party Software
Privacy acts, such as HIPAA in the U.S. and other privacy laws around the world demand increased protection on certain types of content. In addition, recent infraction of business data by hackers has prompted increased vigilance within law firms. WorkSite 9 enables customers to designate certain types of content within the store as "sensitive". This sensitive content is automatically encrypted by the WorkSite platform for storage without the need for any third-party software, allowing law firms to comply with new regulations and protect sensitive customer data from cyber attacks.
Next-Generation Private Cloud Computing Platform
Business users have come to expect that their data can be made available securely anywhere at any time, while IT departments are looking to consolidate data centers and provide complete redundancy via cloud-based services. WorkSite 9 delivers the next-generation cloud computing platform that gives customers the flexibility to have their own private cloud or leverage Autonomy's cloud services for document management, scanning and workflow. The new WorkSite 9 platform allows customers to access these services via traditional desktop clients (thick clients), web-based interfaces (thin client) or via a mobile device (micro clients).
"With the increased use of mobile devices in today's business environment, email usage has gone up, but the need to capture and manage email and keep information up-to-date remains," said Neil Araujo, CEO of Autonomy Protect. "The latest release of WorkSite 9 significantly enhances workers' productivity and responsiveness to customers' needs by allowing secured access to the repository from the latest preferred user devices. The new security and virtualization features also give organizations the flexibility to meet their growing business requirements."
