Ballast Nedam/BAM Selected for Contract Negotiations to Build Arnhem Public Transport Terminal
NIEUWEGEIN, The Netherlands, September 2, 2011 /PRNewswire/ --
A consortium consisting of Ballast Nedam and BAM has been selected by the principals ProRail, the Municipality of Arnhem and Dutch Railways (NS) to take part in final contract negotiations for the Public Transport Terminal tender in Arnhem.
The project comprises the construction of the transfer hall in line with the following criteria expressed by the commissioning parties: working on the basis of the design supplied by UN Studio and within a budget of 37.5 million euros. Ballast Nedam/BAM produced a design in response to the tender. A jury which included the three principals, the rail architect, the chief government architect and the project architect assessed the offer of Ballast Nedam/BAM as the best.
The transfer hall connects to the bicycle parking facility and the passenger tunnel, and also serves to link the car park, taxi rank and bus station.
Ballast Nedam/BAM has already delivered a platform tunnel that was recently opened to the public at the same location.
The Municipality of Arnhem, ProRail and NS aim to open the new transfer hall in late 2013.
