Bieber's Social Media Crown Challenged by Pringles for Armed Forces Day
LONDON, June 27, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --
The Guinness World Record attempt for the 'Most widespread social network message in 24 hours' achieved by pop sensation Justin Bieber in March 2012 is being challenged only 3-months later by Pringles, which is driving the biggest social media 'thank you' to our troops on Armed Forces Day - 30th June.
The current record of 251,878 social media messages in 24 hours will be challenged on Armed Forces Day across Twitter and Facebook. Johnny Vaughan, who will be attending the event says, "I'm proud to show my support for our troops on Armed Forces Day, and would like the whole of Britain to get behind the world record attempt that Pringles is driving to say a huge thank you. Let's give the Bieber a run for his money and bring this record home!"
To achieve this Guinness World Record, Pringles is urging the nation to show their support to the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community by posting the following message on Twitter or Facebook on Saturday 30th June:
I'm saying thank you on #ArmedForcesDay. RT to show your support and set a world record
As well as being Britain's number one large sharing snack, Pringles is one of the most popular snacks of the British Armed Forces serving on the frontline, supplying over half a million cans to our service personnel stationed all over the world every year through its connections with NAAFI, a not-for-profit organisation that delivers a taste of home to our service personnel stationed all over the world.
Brand Manager for Pringles, Fiachra Moloney, commented "Armed Forces Day is all about raising awareness of the contribution the Armed Forces make and showing gratitude.
Given Pringles is designed for sharing and we have one of the biggest Facebook fan communities in the world, we thought there was no better way we could support than by breaking a world record with as many people as possible publicly sharing their thanks.
We're also helping people take part at the Armed Forces Day national event by inviting guests to step inside of a giant Union Jack Pringles can to film personal messages of thanks, along with a photo booth to capture their 'thank you' moments".
To mark Armed Forces Day, Pringles has developed 500 exclusive Armed Forces themed cans depicting the Army, Navy and the Royal Air Force that will be available at the national event. Free Pringles will also be available for Forces personnel.
Pringles has also launched a limited edition Union Jack can which will be available in stores throughout the summer.
