BioPharm America™ 2015 to bring industry heavy hitters and biotech disruptors to Boston September 15-17
CARLSBAD, California and BOSTON, July 22, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- BioPharm America™ 2015 will once again bring the most talented, innovative leaders of biotech and pharma to Boston this September 15–17 at the Boston Marriott Copley Place.
An increasing number of industry heavy hitters have successfully led and exited large corporations and are now investing their experience, clout and personal finances to reseed the life science ecosystem by leading the charge at small companies.
This is the topic of the BioPharm America opening plenary entitled "Giving up the corporate jet and going back to the trenches: Insights from biotech disrupters" taking place September 15, 2015. The plenary will be moderated by Francois Maisonrouge, Senior Managing Director at Evercore Partners, and is joined by speakers:
- Deborah Dunsire, President and CEO, FORUM Pharmaceuticals;
- Jeffrey B. Kindler, CEO, Centrexion Corporation;
- Jeremy Levin, Chairman and CEO, Ovid Therapeutics Inc.; and
- Christopher A. Viehbacher, Managing Partner, Gurnet Point Capital.
These five disrupters left big pharma behind to join small biotech companies and drive innovation that is on the front lines of drug development. Most recently, Chris Viehbacher was announced as the head of a USD 2 billion healthcare investment fund set up by Swiss billionaire Ernesto Bertarelli. Their combined experiences provide perspectives from both sides of the fence, and they have real "war stories" to share about how they got to where they are now.
The plenary is just one draw for the drug development ecosystem made up of serial entrepreneurs, global finance, pharma, service and commercialization partners who attend the event.
Two new features have been added in 2015:
- Biotech Startup Day on Wednesday, September 16 where participants can engage with early stage companies and projects vetted by a committee of scouts from top pharma companies in an interactive format.
- Partnerships in Regenerative Medicine and Advanced Therapies Day on Thursday, September 17 with programs designed to bring together key players in this game-changing new paradigm in human health.
Other program highlights will draw discussion from experts in the areas of digital health, rare diseases, immuno-oncology and big data, among other topics.
Register now and plan your Boston week this September 15–17.
