Bookings Open for Theatres Trust Conference 15: Valuing Theatres
LONDON, April 14, 2015 /PRNewswire/ --
Bookings open today for The Theatres Trust's annual Conference, taking place this year on Tuesday 23 June 2015 at Milton Court Theatre in London, part of the Guildhall School of Music & Drama.
What value do theatres bring to regeneration, commercial development and mixed use schemes?
Conference 15: Valuing Theatres considers ways in which we can work with the property sector to achieve shared cultural, social and economic returns and create new partnerships with developers to build and protect the theatres of the future.
How do we engage with developers who are playing an increasingly important role as theatre builders and capital investors?
Valuing Theatres is chaired by Jim Beirne MBE, Chief Executive of Live Theatre, who is leading Live Works, a new £10 million capital development scheme in Newcastle.
A full day of presentations and debate will feature leading-edge projects including the proposed Factory Manchester; Sadler's Wells new dance theatre in Olympicopolis - the culture and education quarter at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park; Harvey Goldsmith on his new Wembley Theatre; the Nine Elms Vauxhall Partnership and Battersea Power Station; Bradford Live; and the redevelopment of Riverside Studios in London. Contributors also include representatives from Shaftesbury PLC, Land Securities and Cathedral Group PLC. From the artist's perspective, Theatre Peckham and Theatre Delicatessen will talk about how they have secured theatre and performance facilities through planning obligations and working with developers. Contributors will also cover valuation methodologies, including the Treasury's guidance on economic appraisals and valuing well-being in the Green Book and market valuations such as the recently completed valuation of York Theatre Royal for its transfer from York City Council to York Conservation Trust.
This year the Conference is sponsored by leading architects and designers, theatre suppliers and manufacturers to the theatre sector including: ETC, Aedas Arts Team, Stage Electrics, Unusual, Artifax Software, BuroHappold Engineering, Charcoalblue, EM Acoustics, Nimax Theatres, Northern Light, ShowTex, State Automation, GDS, Harlequin, Page\Park Architects, Purcell, SSE Audio Group, Theatre Projects Consultants, Wigwam Acoustics, ABTT, Hawthorns, Lighting&Sound International, The Stage and UK Theatre.
