Boxing Star Amir Khan in Media Spotlight at David Lloyd Bolton
LONDON, May 30, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --
Boxing champion Amir Khan is set to hold a rare media workout session at David Lloyd Bolton at lunchtime today (Wednesday 30 May) which will broadcast live on Sky Sports News.
The star, who is an official Olympic torchbearer and is set to carry the iconic flame through his home town of Bolton tomorrow, is holding a major press conference at the club as he prepares for his July 14 fight with undefeated WBC light-welterweight world champion Danny Garcia.
The two-times world champion, who is a member at David Lloyd's Bolton gym, is spending his final week back in Britain before jetting off to LA where he will continue his training.
Amir said: "I'm spending my last week in Bolton before I leave for LA to continue getting ready for my next fight. The coming weeks hold some big things for me.
"Carrying the Olympic Torch is a very special honour - especially through the streets of the town that I have grown up in. It's a real privilege to be able to do this before I leave the comfort of my home to get ready for what will be an absolutely explosive fight against Danny Garcia."
David Lloyd Bolton general manager Russell Ormerod said: "Amir Khan is a great friend of David Lloyd Bolton and we were delighted when he asked us to host this major media event before his big fight.
"Amir is a fantastic role model for any youngster who dreams of being the best they can be, especially during this massive year of sport, and we hope that his training here at our club helps him secure victory in LA."
