The 'Pimp Our Print' competition is open to all budding designers across the globe regardless of age, experience or location.
Anne Slaats, Communications Manager at Brabantia, said: "This competition is ultimately about recognizing upcoming designers and showcasing their talents. We're looking to the latest generation of creatives to come up with a unique and fresh design that neatly captures the spirit of today, much as our iconic Patrice design did some 40 years ago."
The popular Patrice design, created by Patrice van Uden, was launched by Brabantia in 1970. It is distinctive for its brown and cyclam flowers overlaid upon an orange background. The 'flower' element was first cut out of paper and then drafted, before being screen printed in two colours, lending the pattern a 'crafted' air. The design has proven to be Brabantia's most popular ever.
Those entering the Pimp Our Print competition are encouraged to let their imaginations run wild and embrace a broad range of styles and mediums including modern art, street art, photography, illustration, textiles and handmade.
Any medium will be accepted as long as it can be uploaded and reproduced digitally. Designs need to be an original creation and uploaded via http://www.brabantia.com/design in JPG format by 22 October 2013.
All entries are displayed in the Gallery, where the general public can vote for their favourite designs. Are you ready to join the Brabantia design team and make history?
In order to determine the winner of the competition Brabantia has assembled an impressive International Design Panel of popular design bloggers. The panel's job will be to narrow down the entries to a final shortlist from which the Brabantia Jury will choose the ultimate winner.
As well as the chance for their print and name to appear on a range of Brabantia canisters, and potentially a whole product range including Bread Bins, Touch Bins and Pedal Bins, the winner will also receive a three day trip for two with tickets to Salone Internazionale del Mobile 2014 in Milan, luxury hotel accommodation, transport and spending money for this trip of a lifetime (11-13 April 2014).
The Runners Up will receive their design printed on a set of bespoke, one-off Brabantia canisters.
Non-designers will also be in with a chance of winning a 'People's Choice' prize based upon the number of votes they receive via the Pimp Our Print website. The most popular 'People's Choice' designs will then be entered into a 'Facebook Fans vote' to determine the successful design. The five most popular public winners will get their design printed on a set of one-off Brabantia canisters.
