Britannica Names Shrivastava Managing Director in South Asia
Education and technology executive to drive curriculum and digital push
NEW DELHI, Sept. 26, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Encyclopaedia Britannica, Inc. announced today that it has appointed Sarvesh Shrivastava managing director of its South Asia operations.
A veteran executive with extensive experience in education and digital technologies, Shrivastava joins the company as it is pursuing vigorous growth in education and school curriculum in India and nearby countries with new products in print, online and mobile. He is expected to move ahead assertively with that strategy.
"Britannica's presence and reputation in India have been long lasting. But as we have expanded our presence in the education and curriculum areas we have also increased our efforts in India and surrounding countries," said Leah Mansoor, senior vice president, international operations, with Encyclopaedia Britannica.
"We know South Asia is hungry for education and learning. It's a complex region with a complex and changing market. We need an executive who understands this and can drive growth. We're thrilled to have found him."
Shrivastava has more than 25 years' experience in education and information technology and has held a range of management positions with NIIT, Pearson and Telecom Australia. Prior to joining Britannica he was executive vice president and head of global government business for NIIT. Before that he was managing director, Asia Pacific, for Pearson VUE, a business of Pearson plc.

Shrivastava holds master of science and bachelor of science degrees from the University of Illinois, Chicago.
