Awards season is upon us once more and not one to be left out of the limelight British adult TV channel Television X have launched their annual SHAFTA nominations.
2012 sees the third annual ceremony for the Soft and Hard Adult Film and Television Awards, the only ones of their kind which are voted by the general public. Voting goes live on 1st February exclusively on the SHAFTA website where visitors can sample some of the action and also download free wallpapers of SHAFTA stars.
Nominees include TWO ex school teachers, Johnny Anglais for Male Performer of the Year and porn producer Liselle Bailey for her series Liselle's Sordid Summer which followed Liselle and her group of porn star pals on holiday in Ibiza.
Liselle spoke of the series saying, "Taking a load of porn stars to Ibizacould be seen as a dream job… I'd say it's nearly as tricky as controlling a class of 30 teenagers!"
Controversially transsexual performer Holly Harlow has been nominated for Best New Starlet, a category usually dominated by female new comers. Chris Ratcliff, Head of Programming at the channel, defended the choice saying:
"The demand for transsexual content has seen a dramatic rise in recent years both online and through video on demand services on digital TV platforms. Holly Harlow has become one of the most watched performers and the term starlet fits her perfectly, she is feminine, sexy and a great performer"
Also for the first time Television X will be streaming behind the scenes footage from the industry event LIVE on 15th March via the SHAFTA website. The SHAFTA Uncut show will be presented by scouse super star Tanya Tate who will be getting up close and personal with the SHAFTA nominees and bringing fans all of the top gossip as it happens.
