Building Technology Answers Global Energy Crisis

MILWAUKEE, Jan. 28, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Efforts to go green often focus on recycling and conserving water, but the biggest impact lies in buildings that consume 40 percent of the world's energy.

The United Arab Emirates has some of the most sophisticated and spectacular buildings in the world. This degree of sophistication and comfort requires sizeable amounts of energy, leading to consumption of natural resources and an increase in carbon footprints.

Johnson Controls, the global leader in building efficiency, joined international energy experts to demonstrate the Panoptix solution, a blend of software and services to help single building owners or managers of global enterprises track and improve the performance of their buildings. Cloud-based apps provide visibility into how every system, subsystem and device is functioning. Building managers then use the information to improve building performance, reduce energy use and increase the comfort of occupants.

Building technologies, such as the Panoptix solution, address many of the requirements in the Green Economy Initiative, a long-term plan announced a year ago in the UAE to build a green economy. The initiative includes six major fields covering a wide range of legislation, policies and projects, many of which are focused on making public and private sector buildings more sustainable by 2014.
