Bulova Introduces the World's Most Advanced Chronograph
BASEL, Switzerland, March 8, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --
- Precisionist Chronograph Takes Extraordinary Accuracy to a Thousandth of a Second
Today at BaselWorld 2012 - the World Watch and Jewellery Show, Bulova Corporation introduced the Bulova Precisionist Chronograph, the world's most advanced chronograph. This landmark timepiece features 1/1,000th second precision over a twelve-hour time frame and is accurate to within ten seconds a year.
An extraordinary extension of Bulova's renowned Precisionist technology, the Bulova Precisionist Chronograph adds uniquely exact timing to the world's most accurate watch with a continuously sweeping second hand, and offers a design reflecting the quality of technology within, reinforcing Bulova's legacy of timekeeping design and innovation.
"With the Precisionist Chronograph, Bulova has taken timekeeping to a new level of accuracy," said Dennis W. Perry, Bulova Corporation President. "Bulova has always been dedicated to innovation that raises the bar for excellence. The Bulova Precisionist Chronograph, building on the unique achievement of Bulova Precisionist technology, represents a higher standard in timekeeping precision."
Extraordinary Precision and Reliability
The only chronograph in the world to combine 1/1,000th second timekeeping, ten-second per year accuracy and chronograph timing of up to twelve hours, the Bulova Precisionist Chronograph is an unprecedented mix of high-performance precision and unique Precisionist accuracy.
One of the most successful recent introductions in the timekeeping industry, Precisionist made its debut at BaselWorld 2010. Developed by Bulova in cooperation with its parent company, the Citizen Watch Company (Japan) Ltd., Precisionist offers a proprietary three-prong quartz crystal in place of the standard two-prong version. This landmark technology produces a quartz vibration frequency of 262.144 kHz, eight times greater than the traditional two-prong quartz crystal and the highest of any watch available today.
The new Precisionist Chronograph shares the original collection's remarkable technology, maintaining accuracy globally to within ten seconds a year and expanding the Precisionist's capabilities with an extraordinarily precise chronograph offering timing to the thousandth of a second over a twelve-hour timeframe. Design teams from Bulova worked with the support of engineers from Citizen Watch Company (Japan), Ltd., dedicating themselves to extending the achievement of the breakthrough Precisionist movement. Technical standards were validated at every step of the development process, with verification set to continue throughout production.
The design of this unique watch maintains the elegance of the original Precisionist styles, including the signature continuously sweeping second hand. Using the intricate, architectural case of the original Bulova Precisionist Champlain Collection, a proven retail success, the Precisionist Chronograph includes the multi-layer dimensional dial characteristic of all Precisionist models, with the addition of four subdials - a dual-duty 1/10- and 1/100-second counter, hour and minute measures, and a distinctive 1/1,000-second track with retrograde indicator. The continuously sweeping second hand measures seconds in chronograph timing mode. This intricacy makes extraordinarily precise timing easy and logical. Users simply push the button at 8 o'clock to move into chronograph timing mode, then push the button at 2 o'clock to begin up to twelve hours of chronograph measurement. At the desired interval, another push of the 2 o'clock button gives separate, easy to read measurements of hours, minutes, seconds, 1/10-seconds, 1/100-seconds and 1/1,000-seconds.
Crafted of solid stainless steel, each Precisionist Chronograph also includes a tachymeter and calendar and offers water resistance to 300 meters.
The Bulova Precisionist Chronograph collection, with two initial models for men, will be available globally in October 2012 with a suggested retail price range in U.S. dollars of $699 to $799.
