Business Worldwide Magazine Announces its 2015 Deal of the Year Winners
LONDON, November 25, 2015 /PRNewswire/ --
Business Worldwide Magazine (BWM) this week announced the winners of its inaugural Deal of the Year Awards (2015).
The entries were very strong, particularly in the insurance, banking, legal and media/tech sectors, according to the judging panel (which comprises current and former corporate finance luminaries). Countries which featured amongst the winners include the US, Egypt, Germany, Denmark, Italy and as far afield as Hong Kong. Two of the deals were major transactions in their particular sector and country - CI Capital's advisory on the sale of Egyptian insurance company Commercial International Life (CIL) to AXA, and the acquisition by OUTFRONT Media of Van Wagner Communications, LLC.
"From the size of some of the deals this year the M&A sector never looked better," said a spokesperson for BWM. "Certainly, we were very impressed with the calibre of the entries we received. Trying to choose winners for each individual country featured certainly wasn't any easy task, anything but. On the whole it was a 'good' problem to have and we are delighted to pass on our congratulations to the eventual winners. They all deserve our praise for their meticulousness and tenacity in securing the best deals possible for their clients."
The winners for each country were chosen based on a set of criteria which included subjective and objective analysis and looked at categories such as reputational enhancement, the value of the deal, how long it took to achieve considering size and the number of players involved, and finally the knock-on effect it had in that particular sector at the time.
This year's winners include Mark Boidman, a Media and Tech investment banker at Peter J. Solomon Company (PJSC) in New York. The acquisition he executed on behalf of his client, OUTFRONT Media, of more than 1100 large format billboard displays in such unique and iconic locations as Times Square and Sunset Strip, allowed OUTFRONT to enhance its top market growth strategy.
The BWM spokesman continued: "We are sure the winners don't need any further indication of how impressed our judges were with their achievements so all that leaves us with here at the magazine is to wish them well for what we are sure will be a very successful future."
