Calamos Introduces Global High Income Fund on Global Platform (UCITS)
-- A strategic investment solution for greater income potential with an attractive risk/reward profile
NAPERVILLE, Illinois and LONDON, July 27, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Calamos Investments, a global investment management firm, is pleased to announce the introduction of the Calamos Global High Income Fund to its UCITS fund platform. The global, diversified fund is based on the institutional Calamos High Income Strategy that has been available to both U.S. and non-U.S. investors since November 1999.
The Calamos Global High Income Fund invests dynamically across the credit quality spectrum focusing on the upper- and middle-credit quality tiers of the high yield bond market. The fund pursues income while avoiding exposure to more speculative or distressed high yield bonds. By investing primarily in companies with stronger corporate fundamentals and healthier balance sheets, the fund seeks to provide high income with an attractive risk/reward profile.
"Institutional investors are expanding their view on strategies to generate income across their asset allocation. Against the backdrop of persistently low rates and yields, traditional fixed income – government and investment grade bonds – are challenged to deliver the needed income. We view the Calamos Global High Income Fund as an important, strategic lever for investors to use in their fixed income allocation to lift the income contribution while managing their risk profile. The fund draws upon our decades of expertise in risk management and utilises an opportunistic approach to adding alpha over time while managing downside volatility," stated John P. Calamos, Sr., CEO and Co-Chief Investment Officer.
The fund is the latest addition to the existing offerings of the UCITS platform for Calamos Investments, which also includes: Calamos U.S. Growth Fund, Calamos Global Equity Fund, Calamos Global Convertible Opportunities Fund and Calamos Emerging Markets Fund. These UCITS funds are available to institutional and retail investors outside the United States. The investment process for the Calamos Global High Income Fund and each of the Calamos UCITS funds is based on a long record of managing similar institutional strategies and funds for clients in the United States and around the globe.
