Call For Entries Opens For 2014 Hunting Art Prize; Texas Artists Compete For $50,000 Award
HOUSTON, Aug. 1, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Hunting PLC, an international oil services company, announced today the call for entries for its 34th annual Hunting Art Prize has been issued to artists throughout Texas. Participants vie for a $50,000 award – the largest prize in its category available in North America.
Those interested in entering must be a legal Texas resident and at least 18 years of age or older by August 1, 2013.
Artists can participate by completing the electronic sign up form available at www.huntingartprize.com and uploading one digital image of their artwork in a JPEG format. A single two-dimensional painting or drawing not exceeding 72 inches on any side may be entered for the Prize.
All entries must be received by Hunting PLC by midnight on Saturday, November 30, 2013.
After submissions have been reviewed to ensure compliance with contest rules, the entries will undergo a two-tiered jury process. A panel of jurors will first evaluate the digital entries and select artists to move on to the final tier. These finalists will be asked to submit the original artwork represented by their digital entry for the final round of judging to determine the winning piece.
The recipient of the 2014 Hunting Art Prize will be announced at a gala on May 3, 2014, in Houston.
As part of the competition, Hunting PLC proudly supports a single well-deserving, Texas-based charity each year through a donation made on behalf of the Hunting Art Prize. In keeping with tradition, the international oil services company has selected Patriot PAWS Service Dogs as its 2014 charity.
The nonprofit organization is dedicated to inspiring and restoring the physical and emotional independence of disabled American veterans and others with mobile disabilities by training and providing service dogs at no cost. Patriot PAWS will be presented with a charitable contribution by Hunting PLC on behalf of the Prize at a separate event following the 2014 gala.
The Hunting Art Prize is historically the most generous annual award in North America for painting and drawing. In 2006, the competition moved to Houston, where Hunting's North American headquarters are located, after a quarter-century in the United Kingdom.
