Cambium Networks Adds Connectorized Radio To Groundbreaking ePMP™ Wireless Broadband Platform
-- Addresses Russian market and delivers a non-GPS-synchronized option to network operators
ROLLING MEADOWS, Illinois, Jan. 22, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Cambium Networks™, a global leading provider of wireless broadband solutions, today announced the availability of the ePMP 1000 Connectorized Radio. The latest addition to its breakthrough ePMP wireless broadband access platform, this new non-GPS-synchronized access point is targeted at extending the reach of existing broadband wireless access networks with its affordable price point, while maintaining Cambium Networks' standards for quality, reliability and security.
Since ePMP was launched in October 2013, Cambium Networks has responded to evolving market needs with three software releases delivering incremental features to support demand. The most recent release announced on January 17 contains the following capabilities:
- Radius authentication, addressing security and subscriber management requirements
- Extending frequency range of the solution to the 5.9 GHz band for operators in Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States with access to that spectrum
- Enhanced statistics and tools
To address the challenges the physical environment can pose to network design, the ePMP 1000 Connectorized Radio can use higher gain antennas to extend the radio's reach and service area. This effectively increases the distance between access point and antenna, widening the connectivity radius. The Connectorized Radio has a maximum deployment range of up to 13 miles / 21 kilometers per access point, making it useful to rural communities where end users are widely dispersed.
Designed as a non-GPS-synchronized radio, this Connectorized ePMP module is ideal for areas of very low subscriber density, and offers throughput of up to 150 Mbps. As the network grows and the need for multiple sectors develops, the ePMP 1000 GPS Sync Radio may be utilized to enable GPS synchronization of the network, which would then be able to support frequency re-use, higher spectral efficiency and denser subscriber deployments in cost-effective fashion.
ePMP Connectorized modules are now available on every continent through Cambium Networks' distributors.
"We are very pleased with the initial roll-out of ePMP and the market feedback we've received since October," said Atul Bhatnagar, president and CEO, Cambium Networks. "The number of successful software releases we've delivered since ePMP's launch speaks to our strong commitment to velocity and meeting our standards for quality, reliability and security to connect the unconnected."
