Cambium Networks' PMP 450 Wireless Broadband Platform Now Available In 3 GHz Licensed Spectrum
-- Portfolio expansion enables service providers more revenue-generating options through added spectral flexibility
ROLLING MEADOWS, Illinois, Feb. 4, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Cambium Networks™, a global leading provider of wireless broadband solutions, today announced the availability of its field-proven PMP 450 in the 3 GHz frequency, in addition to the current availability at 2.4 and 5 GHz. Offering this proven solution across the 3 GHz frequency band expands service providers' global spectrum options to support their customer bases, and delivers enterprise-class broadband connectivity for access and backhaul that enables new revenue-generating services.
Key features:
- Frequency availability: Now 3300 - 3600 MHz; 3550 - 3800 MHz to follow in March 2014
- 125 Mbps of throughput per access point
- Dynamic Adaptive Modulation – Up to 256 QAM
- GPS synchronization for scalability
- Low latency to support data, video and VoIP applications
PMP 450 is a broadband fixed wireless platform launched in 2012 that is now deployed in hundreds of networks in over 50 countries. The PMP 450 offers a flexible, reliable wireless broadband solution to support network operators' many fixed wireless applications, including: rural connectivity; 3G / 4G offload; video surveillance; leased line replacement; remote office connectivity; smart grid advanced metering infrastructure (AMI); border patrol; primary or redundant connectivity; connectivity at special events; disaster recovery; and traffic monitoring and control. The PMP 450 provides maximum throughput of 125 Mbps per access point in a 20 MHz channel.
"We were pleased to see Cambium Networks continue to expand its product offerings across the PMP 450 portfolio with the 3 GHz release," said Marco Guadalupi, CTO, Eurona Telecom. "This new licensed band offering enables Eurona Telecom to effectively utilize our 3.5 GHz spectrum with a competitive product to serve our residential and business subscribers. Being able to leverage this spectrum with such a powerful GPS-synced radio improves our coverage and delivery of uniformly superb connectivity while growing our business."
More and more, service providers everywhere require GPS synchronization to achieve scalability and effective usage of available spectrum. Unlike contention-based systems, the PMP 450 with GPS synchronization mitigates self-interference and enables frequency re-use so that networks can scale from small to region-wide coverage while providing equally reliable connectivity. This technology allows each and every radio in the network to talk to each other and know each other's status, which means that at no point will they create conflicts within the network. A single PMP 450 access point can support up to 238 subscribers modules without service degradation due in part to the synchronous operation mode of the platform.
"Introduction of the 3 GHz PMP 450 brings to bear an additional 550 MHz of licensed spectrum, allowing network operators around the world to expand their service offerings with confidence, and delivers the capacity to meet the ever-growing demand for broadband access," said Scott Imhoff, VP of product management, Cambium Networks. "We remain cognizant of the continuing competition for spectrum, and our technology always aligns quality with utility."
The PMP 450 3 GHz solution is now shipping and available on every continent through Cambium Networks' distributors. PMP 450, PTP 650 and ePMP will all be exhibited at Cambium Networks' booth (Hall 7, Stand #7B41) at Mobile World Congress, February 24-27, 2014.
