Canadian Armed Forces Selects Chemring Technology Solutions' Breach MC Radio Frequency Initiator
ROMSEY, England, September 7, 2015 /PRNewswire/ --
The Canadian Department of National Defence has selected Chemring Technology Solutions' Breach MC radio frequency initiator for use by the Canadian Armed Forces.
Breach MC will enable specialised groups, such as Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) teams, to remotely initiate explosive charges at close range for dismounted operations. Breach MC will be supplied via Canada-based distributor Deltic Group, with the contract valued at CAD 996,000.
Mike Luedicke, Managing Director of Chemring Technology Solutions, said: "On operations there is usually little time available for EOD operators to dispose of IEDs. Breach MC gives them flexible options and will deliver to the Canadian Armed Forces a new system that is quick, convenient and safe, supporting them to achieve their mission more effectively."
Breach MC is a lightweight, multi-circuit explosive initiator, and is the only short range selectable firing system available in the market. The securely coded Radio Frequency (RF) initiator allows a single operator to coordinate multiple initiations, removing the need for several operators and reducing the risk of human error. Operators are able to create up to ten firing groups, each containing any number of receivers, or all receivers can be initiated simultaneously.
With a range of approximately 1km, Breach MC is ideal for use in operations where initiation of electro-explosive devices is required, including Explosive Method of Entry (EMOE) and remote disruptor activation for Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) and Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) tasks.
To deliver flexibility in the field, Breach MC uses the same transmitter for both electronic and shock tube receivers and uses commercial off the shelf batteries.
