Cancer Research UK conducts research and drives awareness of the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer and has over 40,000 regular volunteers. The organisation is almost entirely funded by the public and raises money through donations, legacies, community fundraising, events, and corporate partnerships.
"As a registered charity, every pound helps us support research into all aspects of cancer through the work of over 4,000 scientists, doctors and nurses. By managing contracts and spend more strategically, we can secure even greater savings, giving us additional resources to fight cancer," said David Lyon, Head of Procurement at Cancer Research UK.
Partnering with a provider with a strong presence in the United Kingdom was very important to Cancer Research UK. BravoSolution's local team of dedicated procurement experts will work side-by-side with Cancer Research UK's internal procurement team to build upon the knowledge and processes already in place and enhance them through the BravoSolution implementation and adoption plan.
As a non-profit organisation, Cancer Research UK have a duty to ensure that the funds raised are used ethically and efficiently to ensure that the greatest benefit can be gained in the fight against cancer. Cancer Research UK take the due diligence processes and contracting extremely seriously in order to protect the Charity as much as reasonably possible and to ensure that the supply base is meeting the same level of control and oversight as Cancer Research UK place on themselves. Sourcing and contracting processes are therefore very important, as is the need to have clear and easy to retrieve documentation management.
"Prioritising procurement performance is the most important step toward effectively managing the cost, resource and time pressures of a non-profit organisation," said Sarah Kingdom-Evans, Account Director at BravoSolution. "By obtaining additional visibility into contracts and spend under management, Cancer Research UK will be able to drive short and long-term process improvements and savings that will allow the team to focus on achieving its charitable objectives."
