Canvas selected as New Virtual Learning Environment by London Business School
LONDON, June 11, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Instructure, the creator of the Canvas Virtual Learning Environment (VLE), today announced that London Business School has selected Canvas as its new VLE.
London Business School is consistently ranked in the global top 10 for its programmes and is widely acknowledged as a centre for outstanding research. As well as its top-ranked full-time MBA*, the school offers degree and award winning executive education programmes** to executives from around the world. The School joins more than 20 other educational institutions in the UK that have chosen Canvas as the VLE.
"We were looking for a VLE that had the flexibility to be used across a variety of different courses and that would engage students at different levels of maturity," said Tony Sheehan, head of digital learning at London Business School. "We chose to invest in Canvas to help students develop new skills and to encourage them to drive innovation and change."
The extensive tender process took more than one year and involved 30 vendors. It included input from the chief operating officer of Executive Education, the chief operating officer of Degree Programmes, administrators, faculty, the IT team and a student body representative.
In the end, London Business School selected Canvas because the VLE is modern, easy to use and cloud-based. The evaluation committee was impressed with the way Canvas supports various pedagogical approaches and how it integrates easily with the rest of the edtech ecosystem.
"As a leading business school committed to nurturing top talent from around the globe, London Business School has the ambition to deliver ground-breaking learning experiences to a diverse student body," said Heather Kane, vice president of International Markets at Instructure. "We share a vision with the school that education is about engaging learning practices that suit every student's needs."
Instructure launched Canvas in February 2011 and has since attracted more than 1,200 universities and schools from across the world. To date, it has serviced 18 million students and teachers globally, ranging from community colleges to leading universities.
