Cellebrite Sets the Standard for Innovation for Mobile Diagnostics and Automated Phone Buyback with New Security Lock Detection, Patent-Pending Battery Test and Integrated Mobile Malware Removal
Cellebrite, the leading developer and provider of retail mobile data solutions, announced today the industry's first solution for automated detection of the Apple® Find My iPhone® application. Security Lock Detection, integrated into Cellebrite's Diagnostics and Automated Phone BuyBack services, ensures there are no limitations on repair activities and that retailers receive full reimbursement from phone brokers for iPhone®s traded in by consumers. Combined with Cellebrite's recently released patent-pending battery tests, the introductions of Security Lock Detection and mobile malware capabilities add new dimensions to mobile diagnostics for retailers.

Mobile retailers require their store representatives verify that anti-theft applications like Find My iPhone are deactivated prior to accepting phones for repair or trade-in. Unfortunately, inconsistent adherence to the process and human error at the point of sale are generating tens of millions of dollars in loss and compromising the effectiveness and speed of repair services. By integrating Security Lock Detection into the workflows for the repair and phone trade-in processes, Cellebrite unburdens retailers' agents by automatically detecting if Find My iPhone is active, providing instructions for its deactivation, and ensuring the application is turned off before allowing the store representative to proceed. As a result, technicians have full access to perform and verify all repair activities and retailers eliminate losses from iPhones "bricked" by the anti-theft measures that prevent the phones from being reactivated in the secondary market.
"In the last six months alone, Cellebrite has introduced three significant innovations to its Diagnostics product that enable retailers to address the real issues that face their businesses on a daily basis," said Amir Lehr, vice president of Cellular Product and Business Development, Cellebrite. Lehr continues, "Capabilities like Security Lock Detection and the ability to identify and remove mobile malware threats raises the expectations of what retailers can and should expect from a mobile diagnostics offering: value that goes beyond fault correction and deeper into the areas of the customer relationship and value chain that are vital to a healthy business."
In addition to Security Lock Detection, Cellebrite's most recent Diagnostics software release brings the industry the first integrated mobile malware identification and removal. Powered by the partnership with Webroot announced at Mobile World Congress in February, retailers can now eliminate threats to security and performance posed by mobile malware. Educating customers about the presence of dangerous applications on their devices also has a downstream effect of preventing re-infection that leads to poor customer satisfaction and multiple repair bookings. These two new capabilities build on the patent-pending battery test Cellebrite delivered in February of this year to address consumers' number one repair complaint: excessive battery drain. Cellebrite's proprietary evaluation method delivers results that are on par with expensive testing equipment usually found only in repair centers, but without having to remove the battery (enabling iPhone support), and all in under two minutes.
"The mobile diagnostics solution that benefits retailers most is one that resolves customer complaints accurately with the first touch, whether that be in the store, over the phone, or by the customer themselves using an on-device app. Cellebrite delivers lab-quality detection and resolution in each of these channels, but when a repair booking is unavoidable, capabilities like Security Lock Detection can ensure the repair experience is as fast and effective as possible," said Lehr.
