In partnership with DCCE, the arrangement will enable CH2M HILL to cultivate green practices and to mentor, train and objective advice Carbon Ambassadors in the areas of sustainability, carbon emission reductions and climate change mitigation, and adaptation. Future leaders of the United Arab Emirates will be engaged in leading the path towards a more resource-conscious and green economy for a sustainable future of Dubai.
The MoU was signed on 18 December 2014 at the Raffles Hotel, Dubai. The event marked the launch of the Green Jobs programme, a collaborative effort to educate, transfer knowledge and best practices to the local workforce with the goal of leading the change to sustainable, low carbon economy in the region.
Dubai's thought leaders participated in high-level panel discussion on green economy revolution and on the implementation of new green initiatives across a number of industry sectors. The discussions covered key elements and international best practices to achieve a smooth transition to a low carbon economy in the United Arab Emirates. Furthermore, a focus group discussion debated the human capital requirements at regional level to effectively support the transition.
"The Carbon Ambassadors Program aligns with CH2M HILL's strategy as a global sustainability leader. We think 'low impact-high output' in everything that we do and are pleased to support the program and the participants as they become the future leaders in this exciting arena. Furthermore, we also support Dubai's strategy to become one of the world's leading centers for sustainability and the green economy," said Neil Reynolds, CH2M HILL's Regional Managing Director for Middle East, North Africa and India (MENAI).
