Changing the Payment Landscape: Yapital Now Available at Mega Online Shopping Mall Rakuten
LUXEMBOURG, July 17, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --
The customers of one of the world's largest Internet companies can now pay for their online shopping with the innovative cross-channel payment solution
Starting now, customers of Rakuten in Germany and Austria can use Yapital to pay at the online checkout. This is changing the payment landscape, as Rakuten is one of the ten largest Internet companies in the world; it is a mega online shopping mall with over 90 million customers worldwide. Over 7,000 merchants are represented on the German Rakuten platform alone. Due to the central ordering and payment process of the online marketplace, customers can now use the Yapital app on their smartphone to pay for over 24 million products from a selection of more than 10,000 brands.
The partnership between the e-commerce giant and the first European cross-channel payment solution brings together two philosophies that are an excellent match. Rakuten is highly successful in transferring the analogue shopping experience with contact to the merchant to its online marketplaces - shopping becomes entertainment. Since its launch a year ago, Yapital is again showing that paying can be fun: if it is possible to use a smartphone across all channels and the payment process is completed easily, quickly and elegantly with a mere scan and a click.
"What fascinates me about Rakuten is the way in which the company with its thousands of partners has consistently put the shopping experience first for many years," says Nils Winkler, CEO of Yapital. "Shopping should simply be fun. Rakuten is implementing this perfectly - and so is Yapital."
"Rakuten increasingly lives up to its claim to be the most interesting shopping mall on the Internet - a place where customers can go for a stroll, discover new products and be inspired," says Dr. Christian Macht, CEO of Rakuten Deutschland. "Paying with Yapital fits in perfectly with our approach to always offer the best possibilities to our customers."
