Mr. Tang stated: "ONOS is the industry's first open source SDN controller platform catering to operator service scenarios and is widely recognized in the industry. Currently, China Unicom is in a transformation phase. SDN represents a huge opportunity for China Unicom to achieve network transformation and service innovation. China Unicom and ONOS share a vision of promoting the SDN industry chain readiness and a prosperous application ecosystem, especially the development of open source network controllers. China Unicom will closely cooperate with ONOS to push SDN technologies forward."
Mr. Parulkar also stated: "China Unicom, as an influential global full-service telecom operator, is committed to researching next-generation network technologies and providing innovative services. ONOS will actively cooperate with China Unicom and play a key role in researching and applying SDN/NFV-based next-generation network technologies."
ONOS is attracting more operators to jointly promote industry progress
ONOS was established in 2014. It is not only the industry's first open source SDN controller platform, but also an advanced open source community. It also provides a technology column for researchers and scholars to exchange ideas.
Currently, ONOS has established partnerships with well-known operators (e.g. AT&T, NTT, and SKT), high-standard telecom vendors (e.g. Huawei, Ciena, Ericsson, and Cisco), network operators (e.g. Internet2, CNIT, and CREATE-NET), and other collaborators (e.g. SRI and Infoblox), and is strongly supported by ONF, ONS, and ONRC.
At the China SDN/NFV Conference, ONOS called for the participation of more telecom operators, service providers, and equipment vendors to take advantage of SDN/NFV development trends, promote industry evolution, and build an SDN/NFV industry ecosystem.
