Chongqing Liangjiang Pioneer Park for Overseas Scholars Opens
CHONGQING, China, Dec. 1, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The Pioneer Park for Overseas Scholars recently opened in Chongqing's Liangjiang New Area.
Overseas returned scholars who have studied in various countries, including the US, UK, Germany, Italy, Australia and Japan, have settled in the park and established 24 innovation projects.
A batch of science and talent service platforms will also enter the park to promote its development.
According to Tang Zongwei, deputy director of the Liangjiang administration committee, the Pioneer Park for Overseas Scholars features three characteristics; it has close connections with Liangjiang's leading industries; it will aim to attract more high-level talent; and Liangjiang will launch additional preferential policies to serve enterprises that enter the park.
Statistics show that the 24 projects in the park cover strategic emerging industries such as cloud computing, robotics and biomedicine. Among these projects is the Huaque surgical robot project, the Chongqing Institute of Green and Intelligent Technology and Chinese Academy of Sciences' first research and development platform for surgical robot research. Another project is the Zhengbo biotechnology sepsis blood purification project, which aims to provide treatment plans and reliable blood purification treatment equipment to patients.
Overseas returned scholars generally gather at the Zhaomu Shan Science Innovation Park, Shuitu Hi-tech Development Zone and Longsheng Industrial Development Zone.
The next stage of development will include more innovation office areas in Jiangbei district, Yuelai district and Lianglu Cuntan Bonded Port. Statistics show that in excess of four million sqm of office areas and 333 hectares of ecological areas have been constructed in Zhaomu Shan. More than 1,000 enterprises and 100,000 people have entered the park.
The Shuitu Hi-tech Development Zone is equipped with multiple functions, such as fundamental research, technical research and development, education, and high-tech products manufacturing. Recently, the Longsheng Industrial Development Zone has focused on constructing an advanced manufacturing base to promote enterprises related to new energy automobile construction, smart automobile construction, general aviation, high-end equipment manufacturing and new materials.
To help enterprises solve problem of capital flow, Liangjiang New Area has launched preferential polices allowing enterprises to receive additional support from the Liangjiang government. This especially applies to enterprises leading the way in developing national industrial standards (they can enjoy financial support worth a maximum of 2 million yuan, or $312,600). Liangjiang has also implemented five supporting measures, such as enterprise open subsidies, operation subsidies, listing subsidies and platform construction subsidies. More importantly, Liangjiang will improve its supporting facilities, including the service center, enterprise incubation center, talents apartments, international school and international hospital.
To make it more attractive for overseas scholars to start their businesses in Liangjiang, the new area has signed cooperation contracts with eight famous universities, including Beijing University and Tsinghua University. Some 12 science and talent service platforms, such as the US-China Business & Culture Exchange, Irvine Culture Think Tank and North America International Exchange Center will cooperate with Liangjiang New Area to provide quality services and attract more talent and business projects to the area.
