For the 2015 edition of Earth Day, the Timberland European headquarter team in Stabio, Ticino, will join forces to the municipality of Lugano and Lugano Turismo in their efforts to preserve outdoor areas that play important roles in the local cultural landscape.
100 volunteers will rehabilitate the Cantine Gandria Path, on Lake Lugano
On 30th April 2015, around 100 Timberland associates will pull on their boots and support to the local municipality team in their efforts to rehabilitate the historical trail that runs from Caprino to Cantine di Gandria. The trail that ends at the Customs Museum still hosts caves and old houses where fishermen of the Gandria village used to store fish, meat, and cheese. Nowadays the area is well-visited by tourists and families in summer. One of the objectives of the Timberland 2015 Earth day volunteering event is to enable the safe and orderly restoration of the trail.

In addition to the rehabilitation of the trail Timberland suggested to highlight, particularly to the younger visitors the natural, cultural, and traditional treasures of the locality. Playful and didactic points will be created in collaboration with Lugano Turismo and will be installed all along the path to allow children and older visitors to discover local tree species, local animals, and the other curiosities of this ancient fishermen location that adjoins the Italian border.
