Comparing the Car Insurance Market
LEEDS, England, August 15, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --
Given the current economic climate, it goes without saying that saving money wherever possible is high on most people's to-do list. Car insurance can take quite a chunk out of a driver's pay check every month, which is why I'm so eager to save drivers like me money.
I set up my website to help people save on their car insurance - and it still surprises me how much money some drivers could save simply by switching insurance providers at the end of the year.
Because I'm so eager to save money in all areas of my life, I used to spend hours and hours clicking around sites and trying to find the best deal, making notes on quotes and comparing them myself. There's no reason why finding a good quote should take that much time and energy - which is why I created a site in order to help others in my predicament.
While it's great to shop around and find the best deal - and really, that's what you need to do when you're trying to save money in any areas of your life - it can take forever! So I've made a way to get all the options in one go. Believe me - there is such a thing as cheap car insurance. You just need to know where to look!
One of my top tips is not to be drawn into the adverts of companies which ask you to go direct to their site for the best deals - the fact of the matter is, they rarely offer the cheapest cover. My advice is not to waste time trawling around their sites.
One common misconception about car insurance is that drivers need to pay the full lump sum upfront: thankfully, this isn't always true. You can pay monthly for car insurance if you need to. Often, monthly payment programs will stick an extra amount onto the full sum. The amount of extra added onto the sum differs from provider to provider - it's something else that needs to be considered when looking at your quotes.
Another misconception is that insurance premiums are higher as standard for men. While this used to be true, insurance legislation which was passed last year changed the rules to get things equal as far as men and women drivers are concerned. There's lots of safe male drivers out there, so I always thought it was unfair to judge drivers according to their gender. Women might be lamenting that they can no longer get better deals on car insurance, but ladies can still get all the benefits that car insurance comparison offers as the boys!
Making steps to reduce your base car insurance quote doesn't have to cost you anything - in fact, most of what makes your quote cheaper is free to implement. I'm always advising drivers to keep their car in a garage or on their driveway at all times, rather than on the street. If you don't have a garage or driveway, limiting your mileage will knock down your premium.
Driving safely is always a must, but if you continue to do so consistently and for a number of concurrent years, you'll knock down that premium. It's more expensive to get covered if you have a record of being a bad driver - so pay attention to the road, and be considerate of other motorists. After all, there's nothing more irritating than a bad driver!
