- Light, flexible foam dressing developed for low to non-exuding chronic and acute wounds
- Complements ConvaTec's AQUACEL® Foam dressings, providing customers with range of advanced foam dressings to suit everyday needs and help patients resume their daily lives
FLORENCE, Italy, Sept. 27, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- ConvaTec, a leading global medical technology company, today announced the launch of Foam Lite™ ConvaTec dressing, expanding the company's portfolio of silicone foam dressings and providing customers with a broad range of advanced dressings for the management of a wide variety of chronic and acute wounds.
ConvaTec is showcasing the new foam dressing, alongside its advanced wound care products including the new Avelle™ disposable negative pressure wound therapy system, to wound specialists attending the 5th Conference of the World Union of Wound Healing Societies (WUWHS) from 25-29 September in Florence, Italy.
Foam Lite™ ConvaTec dressing is a thin, flexible foam dressing developed specifically for managing low to non-exuding wounds, such as skin abrasions, skin tears and partial thickness burns, which do not require the absorbency of regular foam dressings. The new dressing complements ConvaTec's range of AQUACEL® Foam dressings for moderately exuding wounds.
"Wound specialists today rely on advanced foam dressings for managing a wide variety of patients' wounds – from low to non-exuding superficial wounds to those that are moderately exuding and thus require more absorption," said Fiona Adam, Vice President and General Manager, Advanced Wound Care.
"Foam Lite™ ConvaTec dressing was developed, alongside our successful line of AQUACEL® Foam dressings, to help our customers address the challenges of wound care that they see every day -- protecting fragile skin, defending against infection and nurturing with a moist wound healing environment – and to help their patients resume their daily lives."
"In my practice, as a Plastic Surgeon, my experience is that the new Foam Lite™ ConvaTec dressing is easy to apply, especially in the areas of skin folds," said Dr Joseph Chateau, Department of Plastic, Reconstructive & Aesthetic Surgery, Lyon Hospital University Center (HCL), in Lyon, France. "Patients' tolerance is excellent when removing the dressing, and the adhesive is gentle to the skin."
Foam Lite™ ConvaTec dressing is a thin foam dressing with a breathable film and perforated, gentle silicone adhesive.* The new dressing is flexible and conforms* to the body even in awkward positions or places such as elbows, wrists, knees and ankles.
The skin-friendly silicone adhesive is easy to apply, re-position and remove; it will not stick to gloves or to itself, and is designed to be non-damaging (atraumatic) to the wound and periwound skin upon dressing removal.* The soft foam layer is designed to absorb low levels of exudate and help maintain a moist wound healing environment.* The soft-to-touch outer film provides a protective barrier against water, bacteria and viruses.*
Foam Lite™ ConvaTec dressing received CE mark approval and is available in France, Germany, the U.K., Canada, Australia and New Zealand, and will soon be available in additional European markets. The new dressing is available in a number of sizes, which can also be cut to shape, and has a maximum recommended wear time of 7 days.
