Cycle Stuff Direct Looks at the Issues with Cycling

Cycling has become much more popular recently, especially with the increased coverage in the press, however, as people splash out on new bicycles, are there actually enough resources for cyclists and how can the risk of theft be reduced? Unfortunately bicycles are becoming a more popular target for thieves, especially as there is more awareness of how much bicycles are worth. However, there are a few things that cyclists can do to help keep thieves away, including registering and marking their bicycle and using a secure D lock with an up to date certified locking mechanism.

Andy explains, "A good quality D Lock secured around the frame is going to be the best deterrent for thieves, cyclists could even consider using more than one lock, or a lock extender, and secure both wheels to a cycle stand as well."

Another thing that bicycle owners tend to forget about is security at home, which is understandable, as it's the one place where people should feel safe and secure. Burglary has increased and with many home insurance companies not replacing most bikes, a big heavyweight chain fed through a secure ground anchor could protect every cyclist's pride and joy!

With the raised profile of cycling, people are bound to want to give the sport a go which is excellent. Hopefully there will be additional resources to encourage more people to get involved with cycling including bicycle parking and that theft will be taken more seriously to help put minds at ease.
