The globally active expert organisation DEKRA grew significantly once again in 2012. Revenues increased by 8% to EUR 2.16 billion. All three Business Units Automotive, Industrial and Personnel contributed to growth. The Group increased its earnings before taxes by 4.4% to EUR 110.7 million. As Management Board Chairman Stefan Kölbl announced at the balance sheet press conference in Stuttgart on Wednesday, "In spite of a somewhat difficult economic environment, DEKRA has once again had a record year. So our strategy of internationalisation is increasingly bearing fruit." Revenues outside our two domestic markets of Germany and France have increased tenfold over the last five years.
For 2013, DEKRA is planning a clear increase in revenue and a further improvement in its earnings situation. In the year under review, the Group continued to pursue international expansion and established itself in the process industry as a global consulting partner. "Safety and sustainability are taking an ever higher priority in the oil, gas and chemicals sector," said Kölbl. "Thanks to our role as a global provider with unique expertise, we are benefitting from this demand." DEKRA intends to increase revenues in this relatively new business sector from EUR 60 million to EUR 100 million in 2013. Employee numbers have also continued to grow. "I am proud of the fact that in 2012 we have once again created over 1,000 new jobs," said Roland Gerdon, Management Board member for Finance, HR and IT.
