Deutsche Bahn Netz AG Initial its First Call on Huawei's GSM-R 5.0
SHENZHEN, China, Aug. 22, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The GSM-R testlab of DB Netz AG was recently upgraded with Huawei's latest GSM-R 5.0 release launched at Innotrans 2012. Huawei's GSM-R 5.0 solution has now successfully put into operation and a first call as well as first handover was performed in Germany.
With Huawei's GSM-R 5.0 in their laboratory DB Netz AG is now operating a GSM-R platform that is open for future evolution of GSM-R to LTE for Railway. The Radio Network consisting of distributed Base Stations as well as conventional macro Base Stations (singleRAN technology). SingleRAN puts Huawei customers into position to operate GSM, GSM-R, UMTS and LTE with one and the same equipment.
The key features of the new Huawei GSM-R 5.0 release are related to ATCA based IP Core Network platform, Abis over IP, SIP Dispatcher and evolution to LTE for Railway.
