DigitalPersona Announces the Smallest PIV-Certified FAP 20 and FAP 30 OEM Modules on the Market
LONDON and REDWOOD CITY, California, Oct. 16, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- DigitalPersona, Inc., a trusted partner for biometric identity verification solutions, today announced the availability of the U.are.U® 5200, a PIV-certified, FAP 20 fingerprint module and the U.are.U 5300, a PIV-certified, FAP 30 fingerprint module and reader. These smaller, lighter and lower cost solutions are designed to meet the needs of government, finance and healthcare mobile ID customers worldwide.
Field experience and standards are driving the demand for fingerprint readers with larger active reading areas. The principle standards set is the NIST Mobile ID FAP standards, defined in "Special Publication 500-280: Mobile ID Device Best Practice Recommendation Version 1"*, which specify active capture dimensions for specific Mobile ID use cases and is increasingly being adopted worldwide. With the release of the U.are.U 5200 Fingerprint Module and U.are.U 5300 Fingerprint Module and Reader, DigitalPersona provides customers with solutions that meet both the FIPS 201 PIV and FBI Mobile ID FAP 20 and FAP 30 standards.
"DigitalPersona's ability to offer standards-based FAP 20 and FAP 30 fingerprint solutions in high volumes with short leads times fills a need in the marketplace," said Chris Trytten, director of hardware product management at DigitalPersona.
Production quantities of the U.are.U 5200 Fingerprint Module will be available in December. For more information, including detailed specifications, visit www.digitalpersona.com/5200. Production quantities of the U.are.U 5300 Fingerprint Module and Reader will be available in the first quarter of 2014.
DigitalPersona is showing the new U.are.U 5200 FAP 20 Module at the Biometrics 2013 Exhibition, Stand #F240, being held at the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre in Westminster, London, UK, on October 16-17, 2013.
