DirectCourse and Association of People Supporting Employment First Collaborate to Provide Curricula for New and Experienced Employment Professionals
PHILADELPHIA, December 20, 2016 /PRNewswire/ --
DirectCourse College of Employment Services courses ensure that professionals deliver the best guidance in helping those with disabilities find/maintain employment
DirectCourse, a collaboration between Elsevier and the University of Minnesota's Research and Training Center on Community Living, is working with the Association of People Supporting Employment First (APSE) to offer the DirectCourse College of Employment Services (CES) curricula to APSE members.
CES helps launch new careers and provides training for those who wish to make employment support a career. Many of these individuals go on to pursue the Certified Employment Support Professional (CESP) certification. CESP is the only nationally recognized, fully-accredited program that sets a professional standard to distinguish employment support professionals.
"We view the CES curriculum as an excellent educational tool," said Allison Wohl, Executive Director, APSE. "By providing access to CES, our goal is to broaden interest among APSE members pursuing additional training in the employment support field."
CES courses are built around a nationally recognized set of competencies from APSE to ensure that employment professionals can provide the best guidance in helping people with disabilities find and maintain employment.
"DirectCourse, along with UMass Boston's Institute for Community Inclusion, designed the CES curricula to provide the education and training necessary to enable employment services professionals in helping those with developmental disabilities and transitioning youth secure successful and fulfilling employment," said Barbara Cullen, Vice President, Strategy and Product Development, Elsevier. "We look forward to offering this unique educational benefit to APSE members."
DirectCourse is an online training curriculum designed to empower support and care professionals in helping others lead meaningful lives within their communities. For additional information on DirectCourse program offerings, visit http://directcourseonline.com.
