Doctor Blake Wins Bronze for Best Drama in the World at the New York Film & TV Awards
MELBOURNE, Australia, April 27, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- December Media is delighted to announce that The New York Film & Television Festival has once again recognised the excellence of The Doctor Blake Mysteries by awarding Season Four of the show the Bronze Medal in the category "Best Television Drama series in the World".
In a highly competitive market The Doctor Blake Mysteries has still managed to take out third place alongside world-class dramas, Victoria (UK) and UnReal (USA). In previous years Blake has won a number of New York Film & TV Awards, including Silver, sharing the international stage with high quality dramas such as Peaky Blinders, and winning against shows the calibre of Vikings.
Show-runner George Adams said, "This is a great honour. To take bronze against two big International productions like Victoria and UnReal is a testament to the skill and hard work of all our actors, writers and crews."
In 2014 Blake was the only Australian drama to be named as a finalist in the drama category at the New York Festival Awards.
The upcoming fifth season of the Doctor Blake series will go to air later this year on the ABC, followed by a telemovie to finish the 2017 season. For the past five years more than one million fans have embraced the maverick doctor (Craig McLachlan), his steadfast housekeeper Jean (Nadine Garner) and their world of medicine and mystery.
The Doctor Blake Mysteries is a December Media Production in association with ABC TV, Screen Australia and Film Victoria. Co-creator and show-runner George Adams, Co-creator and Executive Producer Tony Wright and Executive Producer Stuart Menzies.
