International research reveals the most common mistakes made by dating app users, as Durex announces new mobile website and video to help men turn matches into meet-ups.
International sexual wellbeing brand Durex has announced the results of a global survey which reveals the habits and experiences of dating app users, and the shocking fact that 90% of users fear they are missing out on meeting their perfect match due to their lack of direct messaging skills.

To help, Durex has launched a new mobile website providing inspiration directly to app users when they need it most, to help improve their DM flirtation skills and convert matches into meet-ups... and maybe more.
Research shows that dating apps are the new normal, with 8 out of 10 (86%) people open to using them to find a partner. In-app direct messaging technique, however, is a serious problem when it comes to taking things to the next level. Almost half (46%) of users admit that they regularly struggle to think what to type to get things started with new matches.
The research highlighted the top 5 habits most likely to put off a potential date, with DMs that are too sexual or too forward the most likely cause of a "no-reply", followed by unoriginal, boring and cheesy messaging. Humour on the other hand was revealed to increase the chance of dating app success, with 82% admitting that they had gone on a date with someone who made them laugh with their messages.
Looking to tackle this lack of "flirtation-inspiration" head on, Durex conducted focus groups with hundreds of dating app users from around the world, discovering the most successful conversation starters and messaging chat-up lines. When "writer's-block" strikes, one click will now enable users to access a specially created online inspiration hub with suggestions to get their fingers tapping and pulses racing. Durex also partnered with leading dating expert Kezia Noble, who stars in a new video offering tips for how men can improve their technique to turn matches into meet-ups - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iOyhXEXxeFI&t=9s
Kezia Noble noted: "In this day and age we have to be able to impress people before we've even met them in real life. With this research Durex has uncovered where most people are struggling. They aren't putting enough effort into this first stage, with the inspiration hub we're hoping we can help more people get that face time they deserve."
Elise Cockley, Durex Marketing Manager UK said: "By 2030, 70% of couples will meet online and our international research shows that nearly 60% of dating app users search for love, not just a hook up, when they log on. At Durex we are on a mission to help bring more couples together, and this initiative is a perfect way to help empower people to get chatting online even when they are struggling to think of what to say."
