eCommerce Industry Leaders Honoured in Annual Awards
LONDON, October 3, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --
eCommerce Awards for Excellence in association with IMRG 2012 Winners Announced
The fourth annual eCommerce Awards for Excellence were celebrated yesterday evening at The Brewery in the City of London by a whole host of top British online retailers and industry suppliers, all of whom have proven that the UK ecommerce industry is thriving with innovation and excellence. The prestigious awards are run by UBM's eCommerce Expo in association with the leading global e-retailing association IMRG, who devised the 17 categories covering the breadth of the ecommerce industry.
In a repeat of last year's success ASOS had an extremely successful evening, picking up four awards which were m-Commerce Strategy of the Year, Best Social Media Engagement Award and Large e-Retailer of the Year. Judges commented that ASOS are setting the pace with mobile and also praised the 'gameification' of their social strategy to generate interest in the summer sale. Founder Nick Robertson also won Outstanding Contribution to eCommerce.
Innovation comes in many forms and this year online delivery provider Shutl has been honoured with the sought after e-Commerce Innovation Award. Parentmail also received a commendation for this category.
Small e-Retailer of the Year was won by SerentaFlowers.com with Jokers' Masquerade coming in at a close second and receiving a commendation. SerentaFlowers.com's centralised fulfilment and customer focus impressed the judges. Having missed out at a close second for Small e-Retailer Jokers' Masquarade with ByBox won Best e-Retailer Delivery Award which was partly due to their impressive customer feedback.
In tough economic times it is important to value and reward launches and reinventions within the industry. This was achieved during last nights festivities with a win for Telefonica UK for their re-design providing the consumer with a simplified and enhanced journey to point of purchase, and SportPursuit Limited won New eRetailer of the Year with particular praise for their boldness within such a niche marketplace.
High street favourite Argos, the original multichannel retailer, was praised for its continual 'bar-raising' and development from its catalogue driven history, winning Best Multi Channel Retailer while LOVEFiLM won Best e-Commerce Marketing Campaign, Diamond Manufacturers won the Best Customer Service award and PayPal picked up Best Payment Innovation in e-Commerce.
The exhibitors at eCommerce Expo, which was also taking place in London this week, were invited to enter the Best Product at eCommerce Expo award. The winner was M2E Pro who impressed judges following their visits to the stands during the day.
"Once again we're delighted with the quality and quantity of entries to the eCommerce Awards for Excellence. All of this year's winners have demonstrated something really special - they certainly haven't made the judging process easy. The ambition and successes demonstrated by the award winners shows that the UK's online retail community shows every sign of continuing from strength to strength. I'd like to congratulate the winners and thank the judges, we're already keen to see what next year will bring," said Rebecca Slater, Event Manager for the eCommerce Awards and eCommerce Expo.
