LONDON, February 5, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --
Laser eye surgery specialists Optimax are this week celebrating Eddie 'The Eagle' Edwards' winning performance in the final of ITV's hit diving show Splash.
The Olympian saw off competition from Benidorm star Jake Canuso and interior decor guru Linda Barker, stunning both judges and audiences alike with a series of perfectly executed dives.
Edwards, 50, had implantable lens treatment (ICL) with Optimax in 2003, and stars in their current TV campaign.
His triumph returns him to the nationwide fame he enjoyed after the Calgary Olympics in 1988 - only this time as a success, having overcome a major sporting disadvantage.
"When I was ski jumping, I could hardly see because my glasses would steam up under my mask, which was very difficult - and dangerous," he reveals.
"Now I can see perfectly, and it's made a huge difference in all my sports. I'd recommend Optimax to anyone," he said.
"We are delighted with Eddie's success," said Optimax founder Russell Ambrose.
"It shows that having great vision can be a real confidence boost, and allows people to take on new challenges and achieve great things."
