'EDGE (Excellence in Dermatology a Global InitiativE)' an internationally accredited continuing medical education (CME) program for cosmetologists, dermatologists, plastic surgeons, and other healthcare professionals (HCP) interested in the field of clinical dermatology was held in Dubai on the 11th October and Muscat on the 12th October 2013. The audience comprised of 170 HCP in Dubai, and over 50 in Muscat, making the EDGE interactive programs a success. The principal objective was to discuss efforts to optimize the management of two of the most common skin disorders in the Gulf region and indeed globally, acne and skin infections. The EDGE international and national faculty comprised of Prof. Lynn McKinley-Grant (Washington, DC, USA), Prof Vidya Kharkar (Mumbai, India), Dr Anwar Al Hammadi (Dubai), Dr. Abla Al Ismaily (Muscat), Dr. Degamber Banodkar (Muscat), Dr. Hanish Babu (Dubai), Dr. Samir Al-Ali (Abu Dhabi), Dr. Hala Fadli(Dubai), Dr. Salah Al Azawi (Sharjah) and Dr. Abdullah Al-Taie (Muscat); Prof Tariq Mughal (Boston, Massachusetts, USA) was the program moderator.

EDGE programs were accredited by the Postgraduate Institution for Medicine (PIM; Denver, Colorado, USA), an American Accreditation of Continuous Medical Education (AACME) certified provider, in collaboration with the UAE Ministry of Health, The Oman Society of Dermatology and the Indian Cancer Network (ICN; Bangalore, India). The programs were facilitated by a restricted educational grant from Glenmark Pharmaceutical, MENA region and the logistics accorded by WebRx of Bangalore, India.
