Due to increasing workplace and construction focussed legislation, sustainability, energy management and security are continuously at the top of the political agenda. As a result it has never been more important for those working within these sectors to be up-to-date with the latest industry developments and advancements and to connect with the companies and people that are making this happen.
More than 150 hours of free-to-attend CPD and CPE accredited education sessions will run across all four events; The CPD Theatre in Building Services - The CIBSE Conference & Exhibition, The Energy Academy and Renewables Theatre at Energy Solutions, The FM Academy within The FM Event, and new for this year, the Global Security Summit London Seminar Theatre will all host conference standard seminars and panel discussions from leading industry figures.
The comprehensive free-to-attend educational content will provide any decision maker working within these sectors the opportunity to improve their knowledge on the latest legislation and innovations, debate key issues and share best practice.
Highlights over the two days include the keynote speech from Lord Sebastian Coe KBE at The Energy Academy on Wednesday 10 October at 3.30pm. Fresh from his pivotal role in the biggest sporting event of the year, Lord Coe will address the audience on the challenges he has faced throughout his career, specifically his role as part of a leadership team managing high-profile projects with huge sustainability targets. He will also discuss how he motivates change in mindset and behaviour to achieve project goals, at the end of his session Lord Coe will host a brief Q&A.
Additionally, Kit Malthouse, Deputy Mayor for London for Business and Enterprise, will be delivering an address on the Mayor's Apprenticeships Campaign in the Global Security Summit London Seminar Theatre on Thursday 11 October at 10.10am. Mr Malthouse will set out how City Hall has led on a campaign with London's employers which has seen the number of apprenticeships in London double, highlighting the value that apprenticeships can bring to business and the importance of encouraging more small-medium sized employers to build apprenticeships into their workforce.
Innovation will also feature prominently across the show floors with new additions including the Envirolink feature at Energy Solutions that will showcase some of the most advanced products currently within the energy solutions marketplace in a working building; and the Round Table forum feature at Global Security Summit London. With two round table forums taking place each day, each session will be chaired by an expert from the Register of Chartered Security Professionals. Each chair will discuss their experiences and offer attendees the opportunity to ask advice and discover a world of innovative solutions.
This year over 320 companies will be exhibiting across the four shows, providing a superior platform for the launch of new products, services and solutions, with exhibitors highlighting the latest innovations from across all four industry sectors.
Finally, a new focus on networking will ensure that industry peers are able to meet in facilitated sessions, allowing them to discuss pertinent issues, make business connections and share knowledge. The VIP Networking Bar across all four shows, the Networking Hub in the reinvigorated FM Event and the Association Advice Centre and Meet the Buyers features in Global Security Summit London, all help to create a lively environment that will ensure visitors are able to make vital industry connections.
Running alongside the co-located shows will be the annual CIBSE Conference, welcoming over 40 expert speakers providing insight from both a local and international level, and will feature debates and interactive roundtable workshops.
The Working Buildings Series is supported by leading industry bodies including the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE), The Carbon Trust, The UK Green Building Council, British Institute for Facilities Management (BIFM), Facilities Management Association (FMA), British Security Industry Association (BSIA), Security Institute and the International Professional Security Association (IPSA), amongst others.
