Healthy China 2020: Strategic Research Report is a landmark chronicle of China's healthcare reforms and development spanning 60 years
Elsevier, a world-leading provider of scientific, technical and medical information products and services and People's Medical Publishing House (PMPH) today launched the English edition of Healthy China 2020: Strategic Research Report, an authoritative documentation of China's healthcare reforms by the country's former Minister of Health, Chen Zhu, who served as Editor-in-Chief.
Originally published in Chinese in 2012 by PMPH and now introduced for the first time in English at the 2015 BooksExpo America (BEA), Healthy China 2020: Strategic Research Report documents China's healthcare developments over the last six decades and includes candid discussions on major healthcare, medical and clinical issues and challenges faced by the country. The book also comprehensively reviews strategic priorities and practical policy framework that became the foundation of China's healthcare infrastructure today.
"Advances in economic and healthcare reforms as well as increased international exposure and interest are driving the need for us to introduce China to the world in an informed and objective manner," said Mr. Song Jianxin, Deputy Director of Digital Publishing, State General Administration of Press and Publication, Radio and Television (SGAPPRT). "Congratulations to Elsevier and PMPH on the launch of the English edition of Dr. Chen Zhu's book at BEA, and I look forward to its global success."
Mr. Song said that the strategic cooperation between Elsevier and PMPH presents on-going opportunities to foster more meaningful and mutually beneficial co-publishing collaborations, and SGAPPRT will always support efforts that promote global distribution of Chinese medical information.
"As the largest medical publisher in China, PMPH is committed to improving medical education, research and clinical practice in the country through close collaboration with healthcare institutions, organizations, medical publishers and the global medical community," said Mr. Hao Yang, General Manager of PMPH. "PMPH became a WHO Health Information and Publication Cooperation Center in 2014 and is responsible for the global dissemination of Chinese best practices in disease prevention and control, as well as the promotion of healthcare. The publication of Dr. Chen's book is a good example of fulfilling our responsibility."
According to Mr. Hao, he believes that Elsevier's good standing, proven expertise and extensive network as a global information provider and publisher will help deliver the content of Dr. Chen's book to places where it's needed. "The launch of this book represents a milestone in the collaboration between PMPH and Elsevier that can only lead to more innovative and strategic cooperation in future."
"Healthy China 2020: Strategic Research Report is a landmark study into China's healthcare situation and provides insightful interpretation of its healthcare policies," said Linda Belfus, Senior Vice President for Content, Elsevier Clinical Solutions. "This is an important piece of work elaborating on China's strategic focus and development goals of its healthcare system that includes relative policy recommendations for the future. Making the English edition of this book available is a step forward in ensuring that the valuable healthcare lessons China have learned are disseminated globally. I'm confident that the relationship between Elsevier and PMPH will continue to grow and contribute towards the growth of global healthcare information exchange."
China is the Guest Country of the 2015 BEA Global Market Forum. The launch of the English edition of Healthy China 2020: Strategic Research Report is part of BEA's extensive foreign literary and cultural programs.
