Elsevier and the National Association of Directors of Nursing Administration in Long Term Care Announce Collaboration on eLearning Product
PHILADELPHIA, September 28, 2015 /PRNewswire/ --
Online course will help care assistants practice safely in today's challenging healthcare environment
Elsevier, a world-leading provider of scientific, technical and medical information products and services, announced today a collaboration in the development of Mosby's Care Assistant Curriculum with the National Association of Directors of Nursing Administration in Long Term Care (NADONA/LTC), the largest organization dedicated exclusively to providing education, communication, and services to nurse leaders and nurse executives in the long-term and post-acute care continuum. This online course will serve as a resource for training new nursing hires, transitioning personnel to new units, addressing knowledge gaps, and preparing for annual competency testing.
"NADONA/LTC is very excited about collaborating with Elsevier on the development of this curriculum. Now more than ever with our facilities experiencing transitions of care, higher acuities of those under our care, and the need for our staff to be not only trained and but produce exceptional specialty care to a wide array of residents/guests and their well-informed and educated families, addressing the gaps in training, knowledge and competency testing is not only essential but imperative," said Sherrie Dornberger, RN, CDONA, CDP, CADDCT, GDCN, FACDONA Executive Director of NADONA/LTC. "Adding our Nursing Experts to Elsevier's talented staff will ensure the outcomes of this program will be quite professional. Development of the proper tools and information will allow for safe, positive and quality outcomes for those using this online training."
The course, which is scheduled to launch in 2016, will also help facilities, organizations, and agencies comply with related accreditation and regulatory standards and offer their care assistants an opportunity to earn continuing education units (CEUs).
"The number of care assistants is dramatically increasing and the need for competent caregivers will become more pronounced as baby boomers age and require chronic care," said Cindy Tryniszewski, RN, MSN, Executive Director, Clinical eLearning, Elsevier Clinical Solutions. "Our collaboration with NADONA/LTC helps ensure that long-term and post-acute care educators and administrators are provided with the necessary tools and information to properly train care assistants to deliver safe, quality care."
This new collaboration expands Elsevier's relationships with key professional associations, including the Emergency Nurses Association, American Association of Critical-Care Nurses, and the Association for Nursing Professional Development.
